Makerspace has two Silhouette cutting machines, a Cameo 3 and Cameo 5. To use these machines, you will need to download the free Silhouette Studio app. From there, you can either create your design on the app or upload your already made creation. When adding your own design from another program, it is best to use a transparent PNG file.
Important tips to remember when cutting out your design:
- Select mirror text function when using heat press vinyl
- Test your settings using the “test” button in the send area to ensure everything is right before cutting the project
- Place heat transfer vinyl with the shiny side down and matte side up
- Place adhesive vinyl with the white/ grid backing down on the mat, and the color side facing up
- Remember to switch your cutting selections to a relevant material
- * Silhouette Studio automatically selects cardstock, but the best setting for vinyl is typically “heat transfer, glitter”. However, it is important to test all settings to find what works for your project
What can you make with the cutting machines?
