Crappy Robots!

The Marston Makerspace is hosting its first Crappy Robots event! Non-experts and novices encouraged to participate!

What is “Crappy Robots”?

Crappy Robots is an event where you come into the makerspace, are given a motor, batteries, and a battery pack, then told to use whatever is available to make a robot that will complete a simple (VERY simple) task.

No experience with any kind of robotics is necessary. There is no wiring, no coding, no electronics, no sensors, no actuators, and no remote controllers.

This is a fun, low-stress challenge where you use the rotation of the motor to try and get your creation to do something sensible…somehow. The goal is crappy, not perfect.

Is this just for engineers?

NO! These aren’t actual robots in that sense. You are making a motorized toy out of crap. In fact, the more diversity of students, the funnier the creations will be! And either way, to help people who may want extra support, we have crappy samples, prompts, and guiding questions!

When is it?

The event will be held on September 2nd from 1pm-3pm in the Makerspace.

Do I need to register?

For this event, because we need to purchase enough motors, we need to know how many people are coming, so yes! You need to register, and here is the link: Register!

Does it cost money? Do I need to bring anything?

There is no cost associated with this event, and all supplies are provided! Just bring your creativity!
