Draw your own sublimation design!

Sublimation is one of our most popular crafts at the Makerspace. Patrons can customize just about anything! Mousepads, t-shirts, mugs, tumblers, and more.

As much as we love how popular it has become, we’ve noticed that sublimation scraps have started to pile up. Craft after craft, came scrap after scrap and we had to find a way to utilize them.

Fortunately, we’ve decided to add a new sublimation craft that uses our scraps and allows YOU to draw your own designs with sublimation markers!

Here’s how to do it:

Preheat the heat press before you start drawing. Different objects require different times, you can find the assigned times on our sublimation paper boxes.

Listed times for different fabrics when using the heat press.

All temperatures are 400 degrees F. Mousepads are for 60s, mugs are 3 minutes

To start you’ll need sublimation scraps and markers.

You simply draw out your design and it can be as small or big as you’d like. Remember to mirror any wording!

After you’ve drawn out your design, you can cut it out and place the design face down on your object. Use heat transfer tape to keep your design in place.

Once your heat press is ready, place your creation inside. Place a teflon sheet over your design to absorb any odors.

Press for the required time according to your fabric and remove your creation once the heat press beeps.

Once your creation is cooled down, peel of the tape and sheet. Your design should now be transferred onto the fabric.

Now that you’ve finished, put your creation to use!
