Unfortunately, due to construction happening at the Marston Starbucks, the Makerspace will be closed for the summer. We’ll be reopening as soon as the work impacting our space has finished, so keep an eye on this page!
If you’re looking for crafting resources while we’re closed, there are many places you can check out!
- The Marston Service Desk offers sewing machines for checkout for 1 week at a time (make sure to reserve in advance!), as well as soldering stations, interchangeable knitting needles, crochet hooks, glue guns, and a whole host of hand and power tools! Just bring your UFID to the front desk and ask for whatever you’re looking for, and our librarians will be happy to help.
- The Alachua County Library District recently opened their own Makerspace at their Headquarters branch east of campus, near Bo Diddley Plaza and conveniently located on multiple bus routes. There you can find an embroidery machine, a serger, a Cricut-style vinyl cutting machine, and much more equipment in addition to general supplies like paints and markers. Their Open Studio hours require a reservation in advance, so take a look at their website to register before heading over. You don’t need an Alachua County Library Card to use the Makerspace, but if you bring along your student ID and a proof of address (like some mail), they’ll be happy to sign you up!
Thanks for bearing with us while we’re under construction! See you in Fall!
