NEW! Flannel Pillowcase Bundles

A basket full of bundles of flannel fabric for beginner sewing.

We’re excited to introduce a new resource for self-guided beginner sewing: pre-washed, pre-cut flannel pillowcase bundles. Come to the Makerspace during Open Lab to pick out a bundle and use one of our sewing machines and a YouTube tutorial to sew your own pillowcase. This is an ideal beginner sewing project: quick and simple, it’s just a rectangle with straight seams, no elastic or zippers or buttons, and everyone needs a pillowcase!

We received a generous donation of brand-new assorted flannel fabric a while back. However, flannel is notorious for shrinkage and must be pre-washed/dried before sewing. Thanks to Marston Makerspace student assistant Maija for shlepping all the flannel to Library West for pre-washing. (Yes, Lib West actually has a washer and dryer!) Then Makerspace student assistant Shannon ironed, pre-cut, and assembled one-yard bundles for pillowcases. She also selected these YouTube tutorials for the different bundle types: basic, contrast cuff, and directional pattern.

We can’t wait to see your finished pillowcases!
